ChainCatcher News: At the 2025 Financial Street Forum Annual Meeting, Pan Gongsheng, the Governor of the People's Bank of China, stated that the digital renminbi is a legal digital currency issued and regulated by the central bank, compatible with emerging technologies such as distributed ledger.

After steady progress in recent years, the digital renminbi ecosystem has been initially established. Next, the People's Bank will further optimize the management system of the digital renminbi, study and refine its positioning within the monetary framework, and support more commercial banks to become operational entities for digital renminbi services.
