Gekko AI is a trading agent in the Virtuals Protocol ecosystem, launched on Base on 13 January 2025 as a fair launch under the ticker GEKKO at contract address 0xf7b0dd0b642a6ccc2fc4d8ffe2bffb0cac8c43c8. The agent was built by Axal, a team that describes itself as a network for verifiable agents, and is written with a 1980s Wall Street persona focused on trading and automation.
In function, the agent continuously tracks market data, social sentiment and on-chain trends to give crypto traders an analytical edge, and its integration with the Autopilot platform points at portfolio management, simplifying how crypto positions are handled, with published materials pointing at yield harvesting and automated position rebalancing as strategy directions. Agora Finance, a stablecoin issuer, is named as an ecosystem partner. Trading pairs sit on Uniswap V2 on Base, with a corresponding asset referenced on Solana.
Parent team Axal had closed a $2.5 million pre-seed in October 2024 led by CMT Digital with a16z Crypto Startup School and Escape Velocity participating, and launched the Autopilot beta alongside it, growing the community to nearly 10,000 and a tester waitlist above 5,000 within three months.
