Về Qtum
Qtum is a public chain launched in 2017 that combines Bitcoin's UTXO ledger with Ethereum smart contracts: blocks are produced with proof of stake and an account abstraction layer in between lets EVM contracts read and write UTXO state. The design keeps a Bitcoin-like transaction structure while running Solidity contracts. In recent years the focus has shifted to blockchain plus AI compute, with image and video generation tools, an inference router and a local desktop agent, positioning the chain as a settlement and provenance layer for AI services.
The difficulty for an older chain is ecosystem inertia: developers and capital have moved to newer networks and maintenance upgrades rarely drive adoption on their own. A v29.1 hard fork completed on 11 January 2026 added BLS12-381 precompiles, tracked Bitcoin Core upgrades and supported zero-knowledge rollups; text-to-video and an AI router shipped on 4 June; October work covers the next release and the Osaka fork. The direction is clear, but whether these AI tools generate real paid demand rather than demonstrations remains to be seen.
Listings and delistings: Bitvavo said on July 13 it would delist QTUM on July 22, while the updated MetaMask Snap entered the official directory in June; Qtum was a platinum sponsor at Hong Kong Web3 Festival on April 20-23.
Tech and fundamentals: The AI inference router supported 44 text models paid in QTUM by July 22, and an Ethereum bridge with USDC is due in the fourth quarter after CertiK and Sayfer audits. QTUM traded at $0.86 on September 8 for a $91.43 million market cap, with annual inflation near 0.25% after the November 30, 2025 halving.
On January 11, 2026, Qtum activated its 50th release, the v29.1 hard fork, integrating Bitcoin Core 27-29 upgrades and Ethereum's Pectra (including the EIP-2537 BLS12-381 precompile that paves the way for ZK Rollups), alongside stronger privacy options, faster transaction propagation, a CMake build system and a PCP/NAT-PMP network stack. In June 2026, the Hacken-audited MetaMask Snap was officially listed in the MetaMask directory, accompanied by a dedicated Ethereum-Qtum bridge with Circle USDC contracts deployed. On the AI side, qtum.ai launched a text-to-video service in May 2026 and expanded its API inference router to support 44 text models by July 2026, with usage payable in QTUM.
Qtum's Future strategy and roadmap: Next, Qtum will advance the Core31 and Osaka hard fork, merging Bitcoin Core 31.1 and introducing Ethereum's Osaka upgrade specifications (including cryptographic precompiles such as p256verify); related commits and unit tests are already in progress. A native USDC cross-chain bridge is planned for late 2026 to bring more stablecoin liquidity. The qBRC-20 token standard remains under development to let Bitcoin-native assets participate in DeFi within the PoS ecosystem. The AI track will keep expanding qtum.ai's multimodal services and local model training while maintaining QTUM as the payment rail for AI services.
