Về Waterfall Protocol
Waterfall is a highly scalable EVM-compatible Layer 1 protocol using a BlockDAG structure with fast-finality proof-of-stake consensus. The network consists of a coordinating network and a shard network: the coordinating network keeps the validator register, assigns block producers, and performs the linear ordering and finalization of the DAG, while the shard network handles parallel block production.
Each validator consists of a coordinator and a verifier; the coordinator processes ledger blocks and earns newly minted WATER, while the verifier creates blocks and earns transaction fees. The WATER token pays for transactions, runs smart contracts, participates in governance votes, and creates auxiliary tokens; becoming a validator requires staking a fixed amount of WATER, a single node can run many validators, and hardware requirements are low. The platform also lets tokens and NFTs be created as ordinary transactions, without dedicated smart contracts.
Waterfall Network launched mainnet V23 on January 14, 2026; on September 12 it released Mainnet Docker v2, adding stake delegation with on-chain rules, validator key import/export, built-in snapshot seeding and slashing-protection database reset.
The mainnet snapshot shrank 5x, from 300+ GiB to roughly 70 GiB. In 2026 the Linux Foundation's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) voted to elevate Waterfall from Labs to Incubation.
Waterfall Network's Future strategy and roadmap: advancing Subnetworks (horizontal scaling via graph clustering) research and planning mobile validator support.
