Vidaio is Bittensor subnet 85, which turns video upscaling and compression into a market where miners compete on output quality. Validators issue two query types: synthetic queries downscale a high-resolution clip and require miners to reconstruct it, while organic queries come from real user uploads that are chunked and queued. Outputs are scored with perceptual metrics including VMAF, PieAPP and ClipIQA+, and miners earn emissions in proportion to measured quality. Code and models are open source and miners run RTX 4090-class GPUs. In the team's published benchmark the base upscaling pipeline scored 0.4697 on ClipIQA+, against 0.4658 for Topaz, 0.4084 for FFmpeg and 0.3637 for HitPaw, a margin over Topaz of under one percentage point.

In 2026 the subnet reworked its incentive structure. Previously about 33% to 35% of emissions were burned and the rest spread across roughly 120 miners, so miners ranked 13 to 100 received near-identical scores and quality differences did not show up in rewards. The new model burns 80% of emissions, gives the top 20 miners 10% in total and the remaining 100 miners 10% as a proximity signal. The subnet currently runs about 251 miner UIDs and 5 validators at near-full utilisation. For enterprise clients it uses a hybrid infrastructure model, moving sensitive data and high-throughput jobs into controlled environments while the open subnet provides the verifiable quality benchmark.
