Polkadot DAO sets the total supply cap of DOT at 2.1 billion through a proposal

ChainCatcher news, the Polkadot decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) has passed referendum No. 1710 with an 81% approval rate, deciding to set the total supply cap of DOT tokens at 2.1 billion.

This proposal will replace the previous model of a fixed annual issuance of 120 million tokens with no total supply cap, and it stipulates a gradual reduction in the number of newly issued DOT tokens every two years to slow down the issuance pace in the future.
