ASTR is Astar Network's native token, used for dApp staking, on-chain governance, gas payments, and ecosystem incentives. It uses a deflationary issuance-decay model converging toward a roughly 10 billion cap, with 80% of network gas fees permanently burned and a voluntary Burndrop burn mechanism.

Về Astar
Astar is a smart contract parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem that also reaches Ethereum through Astar zkEVM, giving Solidity developers a low-fee deployment target. Parachains share relay chain security, but block space must be won at auction or leased, and the cost plus governance coordination is heavy for new projects. Astar elects validators through nominated proof of stake, moves messages and assets with XCM, and steers part of inflation to specific apps through dApp staking; Tokenomics 3.0 cut inflation from 7% to about 4% under a 10 billion token cap.
It works as the interface between Polkadot and EVM builders, serving GameFi, NFT and Japan-facing applications, with assets entering through Chainlink CCIP and XCM and one Solidity toolchain covering both the parachain and zkEVM. Activity is split across those two products, security and block space stay anchored to the relay chain, and coretime must be renewed on schedule with the cost carried in network spending.

Deflation design: Tokenomics 3.0 is live, cutting inflation from 7% to about 4% against a supply cap near 10 billion ASTR; the voluntary Burndrop mechanism has completed its proof of concept, letting holders burn ASTR for allocations of Startale ecosystem tokens.
Unlocks and progress: 26.48 million ASTR, about $144,000, unlocked on September 18 from early backer and team pools; Chainlink CCIP cross-chain support shipped in June; the Polkadot coretime lease ends on October 21; mid-September price was about $0.0056 for a market value near $49.4 million.
In 2026 Astar shifted its roadmap from ecosystem expansion to first-party products. The first quarter rebuilt the Astar Portal, folding governance, dApp Staking and ecosystem tooling into one interface, and activated Tokenomics 3.0, which reshaped dApp Staking into 16 curated projects across two tiers on an annual cycle and began decaying emissions. On 11 May Yoki Arcade launched inside the Startale App, opening with a commit-reveal duel using ASTR match pools.
On 8 June ASTR became a native cross-chain asset via Chainlink CCIP and the ERC-7802 standard, moving between Astar and Soneium through burn-and-mint rather than wrapped tokens; the Runtime 2207 referendum on 12 June improved block production and paused new WASM deployments. Astar Fi, a self-custodial personal finance interface aggregating crypto, tokenised equities, ETFs and metals, entered public beta on 15 September with an initial Japan focus and no fees. On the token side, the cross-chain upgrade lets ASTR move between Astar and Soneium as the same asset, cutting the extra risk of wrapped tokens and bridge contracts and ending the split of liquidity across two chains. The change also prepares the ground for routing DeFi revenue back to the token. The earlier wrapped-asset approach has been dropped.
Future strategy and roadmap: the fourth quarter will merge Astar Fi with the Astar Guard risk layer into one experience, route more product and DeFi revenue back to ASTR, and continue Burndrop work.
